Concrete Pad and Plinth Construction

We build structural bases for:

• Inverters and transformers

• Control rooms or prefabricated cabins

Pads are constructed to full spec, with steel reinforcement, edge formwork, power-float or brush finish, and cable entry sleeves. We also build bunded bases for fuel or chemical containment if required.

Solar Ducting and Cable Management

We install ducting to connect solar arrays to:

• Inverters and transformer enclosures

• Battery storage and switchgear

• Substations or grid tie-in points

• Comms and earth bonding systems

Ducting is typically laid in trenches with:

• Twinwall or uPVC ducts

• Draw rope and marker tape

• Access chambers and draw boxes

• Sleeves for slab or pad entry

• Segregation for AC/DC runs

The electrical backbone of any solar farm lies in its DC and HV (High Voltage) cable networks. United Civils has developed a strong in-house capability for installing and protecting these critical systems.
– DC cabling connects each string of solar panels to combiner boxes and inverters, demanding precision trenching and protection methods to maintain performance and safety.
– HV cabling links the inverters to transformers and substations, enabling the export of clean energy to the grid.

All cable routes are excavated, bedded, and backfilled under strict quality controls, with materials such as screened sand and protective tape used to ensure compliance with client and DNO specifications. United Civils’ teams also handle the installation of ducts, joint bays, and draw pits, providing full containment and accessibility for future maintenance.

Trenching, Layout, and Site Integration

Our services include:

• Trenching through greenfield or brownfield land

• Trench compaction and marker tape installation

• Road crossings and hardstanding entry points

• Setting out from plans or GPS models

• Concrete encasement for critical cables if needed

We also provide as-built records for duct routes, base positions, and invert levels if required.
