What Is Site Strip?

Site strip is the first phase in most construction projects. It involves removing all surface-level materials that are unsuitable for building on, such as:

• Vegetation and root systems

• Turf and surface debris

• Topsoil (typically the upper 150–300mm)

• Contaminated or poor-quality fill

• Man-made surface elements (gravel, mulch, surface stone)

Stripping is carried out prior to excavation or formation works to expose stable ground layers and prevent future settlement or drainage issues.

Topsoil Removal and Management

Topsoil is typically removed and either stockpiled for reuse (e.g. in landscaping) or exported from site. We manage:

• Mechanical stripping using 13T–30T excavators

• Loading and haulage to designated stockpiles

• Screening and separation (if required)

• Legal off-site disposal with waste documentation

• Reuse of clean topsoil in bunds or soft landscaping zones

Our operators work to formation plans and site boundaries, ensuring only the required areas are stripped to avoid unnecessary loss of valuable material.
