Reinforced Concrete Walls and Upstands

We construct a variety of vertical concrete elements, including:

• Retaining walls – to support changes in ground level

• Upstands – for slabs, service yards, and plinths

• RC walls – as part of foundations, tanks, or bunds

• Recessed wall bases – for pits or chambers

• Concrete cores – for stairs, lifts, or internal structures

All walls are constructed using formwork systems or bespoke shuttering, with full rebar placement, pour management, and curing.

Retaining Wall Construction

Our retaining walls are designed and built to retain earth, resist pressure, and support adjacent structures. We deliver:

• Gravity walls (mass concrete)

• RC retaining walls with cantilever or counterfort design

• L-shaped or stepped profiles

• Drainage behind walls (weeping holes, pipework)

• Foundations, starter bars, and tie-ins to slabs

We can also install gabion walls, precast units, or formwork for hybrid systems when required by the design.

Bunds and Containment Structures

Bunds are critical for spill control and containment in industrial, fuel, and chemical settings. We construct:

• Concrete bund walls with reinforced bases

• Sloped or stepped access points

• Channels and recesses for pipe entry

• Anti-slip finishes or coatings if required

All bund works are completed to industry standards (e.g. CIRIA 736) and are suitable for environmental approval or inspection.

Pour Management and Formwork Systems

Our shuttering and concrete placement crews use:

• Traditional ply and timber shuttering

• Modular panel systems (Doka, Peri, RMD)

• Chamfer strips, ties, and release agents

• Pour plans and concrete vibration to avoid voids

• Curing and formwork strike procedures

We handle complex shapes, corner returns, upstands, and joint details for clean, strong results.

Qualified Operatives and Full QA

All wall and bund works are completed by CSCS-certified operatives, supervised by SMSTS/SSSTS-trained managers. We provide:

• RAMS and pour sequences

• Steel fixing to full bar schedule

• Cube and slump testing

• Dimensional checks and reinforcement inspection

• Safe access and formwork bracing

We work closely with structural engineers to ensure each pour meets spec.
