Sewer connections must be approved by the relevant regional water authority (e.g. Severn Trent, Yorkshire Water, Anglian Water). United Civils works directly with these providers to:

• Submit Section 106 applications

• Arrange pre-start inspections

• Book connection slots and monitor approvals

• Complete and submit as-built records

Traffic Management and Road Opening Permits

Many sewer connections require access within the public highway. As a Street Works certified contractor, we take responsibility for:

• Road opening notice submissions (Section 50)

• TM plans and setups (two-way, stop/go, lane closures)

• Permits for road closures or footpath diversions

• Highway reinstatement to local authority standards

We ensure all traffic control and reinstatement is carried out in accordance with NRSWA regulations and Chapter 8 of the Highway Code, reducing risk and ensuring full sign-off by council inspectors.

Excavation, Connection and Reinstatement

Once approvals are secured, our team carries out the physical connection work using appropriate plant and safety systems. We maintain full control over:

• Excavation and support of trenches

• Identification and protection of existing services

• Sewer cutting, saddle setting, or manhole core drilling

• Pipe installation and jointing

• Flow control and system testing

• Reinstatement of surfaces to highway specification

All spoil and materials are disposed of legally, with full duty-of-care documentation where required.
